4 out of 5 juveniles who are arrested have substance abuse problems
STUDY: 80% OF JUVENILE DETAINEES HAVE SUBSTANCE-ABUSE PROBLEM
A five-year National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) study looked at juveniles aged 10 to 17 who were arrested for criminal activity. Four out of five had a problem with substance abuse. The researchers recommended a stronger focus on assessing juveniles' needs and offering substance abuse treatment and other services.
